Gurdon Russell medical notebook and diary, 1837-1846.

Gurdon Russell, of Hartford, Connecticut, used this volume for multiple purposes. Between 1837 and 1841 Russell recorded medical examinations at the State Prison in Wethersfield, Connecticut. In the early 1840s, Russell compiled a bird book of sorts, listing a number of birds, their Latin names, and facts about each. Lastly, Russell used the volume as a diary. His entries mentioned the weather and daily activities.
